Cell-ebrate Resources

After students have been introduced to cells and their organelles, observed life in a drop of water under a microscope, or learned the stages of mitosis, Cell-ebrate Science with your students by creating wearable cell models. Our Cell-ebrate Science design features cell lettering across the top, a microscope at the bottom, and plenty of room for students to paint individualized cell models. Each fashion will be a unique creation — featuring a plant or animal cell with labeled parts, swimming with paramecium, euglenas, or amoebas, or highlighting the stages of cell mitosis.

🎉 Take It to the Next Level: Host a Cell-ebrate Science Fashion Show!

Let students invite parents, teachers, and others to attend. Clear an aisle in your classroom or use the stage, and set the scene for a memorable end-of-unit celebration.

Setup Tips

  • Use red bulletin board paper to create a runway — draw a couple of big Cells at the pose spots
  • Assign a student or teacher as Master of Ceremonies to introduce each model and their cell
  • Have models line up in order and walk the runway one at a time
  • Designate a paparazzi area for photographers — and don’t forget to videotape the show!
  • Encourage students to strike a pose and show off their wearable science

Rotate MCs, involve parents, or invite other classes to attend. It’s a fantastic family night activity too!

Washing and Care

Color may bleed during the first wash. Wash the garment separately in cold water and machine dry promptly as soon as the wash cycle completes.

Making the Project Accessible

ScienceWear projects have been successfully used in schools serving students from a wide range of economic backgrounds. Because the project materials are provided together, families don’t have to search for and purchase multiple supplies. Students also get to keep and wear their finished project, which can help make the activity feel especially meaningful.
